The book goes to print next week.

There is a particular feeling that comes at the end of a long project — not triumph exactly, more like the moment after a held breath. You have been living inside this thing for so long that the world without it feels briefly unfamiliar. The characters have had their last scene. The sentences have been read and reread until you can no longer tell if they are good or merely familiar.

I have been writing since January 2025. The idea is ten years older than that. The subcontinent’s history — the Gupta period, Adi Shankara’s philosophical reunification, the question of what it would mean for that civilisation to have continued on a different trajectory — has been with me for a long time.

Whether I’ve done it justice is not something I can assess right now. That requires distance, and I have none.

The cover is finalised. The Amazon page is live. More soon.
